Dear City
Dear City is an American electropop musical project by Jeff Stillwell. Stillwell creates music using keyboards, drum machines, and a Fender Stratocaster.〔Catherwood, Casey - (Whitney Ballen and Deer City's Rising Stars )〕 He has been described in Seattle's alternative weekly newspaper ''The Stranger'' as "a young Bright Eyes minus all the debilitating depression,"〔Seling, Megan - (The Stranger: Sound Off! Semi-Finals, Round 3 )〕 and has been compared to Ben Kweller.〔(Kirby, Jeff - )〕 ==History== Stillwell began making music under the name Deer City in 2006, at the age of 14, but changed the band's name to Dear City to distinguish it from the similarly named Owl City.〔Stillwell, Jeff - (Dear City Official Myspace Page )〕 Dear City gained local fame with multiple mentions in ''The Stranger'', and participation in its "Sound Off!" competition, in which he reached round 3 of the semifinals. Since 2010, Stillwell has dropped the monkier Dear City, and has begun writing and directing independent films in Olympia, Washington.
